The Politics of Food, Disease, and Wellness

  • Pier 2/3 The Loft Pier 2/3, Hickson Road Walsh Bay Australia (map)

Never before has there been so much focus on the role of food in our overall health. Weight gain and its associated illnesses are no longer personal issues, but matters of public policy. Julian Baggini, author of The Pig That Wants to be Eaten and a member of the Food Ethics Council in the UK, joins Damon Gameau (That Sugar Book) and Indira Naidoo (The Edible City) to look at the best food for health, the power of food manufacturers, the failure of the medical industry and government, and the rise of the wellness industry. Is it finally time for an open and fair food system that allows people to make informed choices? Julian, Damon and Indira discuss the issues with ABC RN’s Dr Norman Swan.
